travelled to Harrogate in North Yorkshire for two weeks. At the Royal Parade you can find the entrance to our school: Harrogate Language Academy Our teacher Charlie and Sue worked with us for two intensive weeks In the common room of the Academy, we relaxed during our breaks ate and drank something in between played a game of poker always under the watchful eye of one of our teachers waited for Maureen’s lunches or checked up on our mails. Whenever there was time, sometimes during a short break, mostly during our lunch breaks, or on a free afternoon, we strolled up Montpellier Hill walked past Betty’s, the most famous ‚Swiss Export’ of North Yorkshire, and enjoyed our time in this nice town, eating our lunches outside, or raiding the numerous shops (mark the bags!) of the place. We didn’t have to use our umbrellas often. The weather in North Yorkshire was out to please us with sunshine mostly. As on our coach ride to Bradford to the national Museum of Photography, Film and Television, and our trip to the Bradford Ice Rink where you can safely hold on to the boards, thank God Another day of beautiful weather on our visit to the impressive town of York, a place positively steeped in history. Here the impressive York Minster Our trip down to the gloomy spectacle of the notorious York Dungeons wiped off the smug smile from many of the faces of our more or less innocent students in no time One evening at the local Bowling Alley where all the students enjoyed some hours full of activities, and certain people even surprised with unexpected acrobatic talents After the party of the last evening, we said goodbye to Harrogate, to our host families, and to their homes, and drove through the streets of this hospitable town for the very last time |
